Friday Faves & Weekend Recap All In One

Image
I know. I know. I am horrible at keeping up with my posts. I decided to give myself some grace and combine two posts in one. It just so happens that my weekend recap photos are some of my favorites right now. ;) But first up is the first day of school. Both of my kiddos are in high school. Dylan is a senior and Natalie is a sophomore. Trying to get them to take a decent photo was quite comical. They were giving me all kinds of grumpy faces. I begged them to at least pretend they were happy about going back to school and this is what I got. Serves me right I guess. LOL! It just might be my favorite 1st day of school photo to date. Next is my sweet girl, Tilly. I must confess that I was not on board with adding a dog into the family. I knew I would be the one handling all the responsibility. We go away a lot. And, I am a sentimental fool that gets attached to lint on the bottom of my shoe. LOL! That being said. I am totally in love. The kids joke that she is my fa

Peach Galette

I love to bake even though I am not a big sweets eater. I would much rather eat real food than a piece of cake. I often bake to give it away to friends and neighbors. I mean my family can eat just so much. LOL! So, when my Dad gave me a dozen giant peaches, I needed to figure out what to do with them. I searched the web and decided I would make a galette ... nice and easy and not too sweet. Ingredients: -1 sheet of thawed frozen puff pastry -2 peaches, sliced thin -1-1/2 tablespoons of cold butter, cut up into small cubes -3 TBSP of granulated sugar -1 tsp of ground cinnamon Directions: -Preheat oven to 375 degrees. -Make sure the oven rack is in the lowest row. -Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl. -Place thawed puff pastry sheet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. -Line up the peach slices in (3) three rows, making sure to leave about a 1-1/2 to 2 inch border around all four sides. -Sprinkle 2 TBSP of the cinnamon sugar over the peache

Happy Friday! Welcome to the Family, Food & Fashion Edition of Friday Faves. :) I'm linking up with the uber fabulous Andrea at momfessionals.com. First up is my favorite dress from my favorite online shop ... Shop Cissie. I discovered Shop Cissie on Instagram last year and I am so glad that I did. They have fabulous dresses for really affordable prices. Plus, the girls that own it are super sweet! My second favorite dress from their shop is the Spanglish dress. I missed out on it last year so I was super excited to see them bring it back again this year. I scooped it up as soon as it went live on their site. If you don't follow them on Instagram, you're missing out. Be sure to check out @shopcissie. You wont be disappointed. Promise. :) Next up is this slow cooker meal I made this week. I tell ya I think I use my slow cooker more in the summer than I do in the cooler months. With my son's baseball practices and games usually starting rig

What I Wore Project Life Catch Up

I have a "thing" for clothes. I love easy sun dresses and maxi dresses too. I love breezy tops. I love flip flops and wedges and riding boots. I love boho tops. I love statement necklaces a little too much. ;) I love leaving the house put together. And I love documenting them on Instagram. Earlier this year I thought it might be fun to create scrapbook pages of some of my favorite outfits I wore each month. I think it'll be kinda neat to look back in a few years and see what was in fashion, at least according to me. ;) See, I am a scrapbooker, a memory keeper, the family photographer and historian, etc. so my mind always goes right to how can I record this for posterity. LOL Here is exactly what I am talking about ... June 2015: May 2015: April 2015: March 2015: February 2015: At the end of the year, I plan on printing these babies out in 8x8 size and putting them into an album. I use the Project Life App on my iphone. It takes literally

My Beauty Routine

Image
If that's what you want to call it, consists of washing my face and applying moisturizer. Seriously, I am a girly girl in just about every way except when it comes to my beauty. I am definitely low maintenance. I hardly wear make up especially in the summer months but I never leave the house without lipstick. To cleanse, I use the 3 step routine from Proactiv. It has kept me blemish free for years and I don't plan on changing a thing. LOL My favorite moisturizer is Oil of Olay. I have been using it since I was a teenager. My grandma told me to use it and boy I am glad I listened. It has done wonders for keeping my skin looking young. Sometimes in the winter, I will need a little bit of something under my eyes. I use this by Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup. It also has spf 20. Now for the fun part, my lipstick. I am obsessed with lipstick and I never leave home without it on. My favorite color is red and my favorite red lipstick is relentlessly red b

Weekend Round Up - Baseball & BBQ Edition

I absolutely love the 4th of July. It's no coincidence that it occurs during my favorite time of the year ...summer! We usually have a low key 4th around here but we never let it go without a little celebration. On Friday, we took my son and his friend to an Independent League baseball game in Bridgeport, CT. We have been wanting to go there for quite some time. The team, the Bluefish, is made up of former major league players and some players that never made it out of the minors. Baseball fans would recognize the name, Sean Burroughs. He's on this team although he didn't play the night we went. Here are some scenes from the game... The field... The lineup... The mascot was a total ham. He sang the national anthem with us, took photos with the boys and later enjoyed watching the game with us in the empty seat next to us. We got a team set of baseball cards when we walked in and packs of flavored sunflower seeds when we left. We got Dill Pickle and B
