8 *is* Great!

Image
So, yesterday my little boy turned 8. Happy Birthday little man! :) It is really hard to believe that it has been 8 years since I was a new Mommy. It seems like just yesterday I was afraid to cut his nails for fear of hurting him. LOL! This weekend we had a party for the family. It was a perfect day. The weather was fabulous. The food was delicious. No one got hurt. The water guns were a HIT!! All in all a GREAT day. Here are some pix from the celebration. Hope ALL of your birthdays are GREAT!

Why do I worry?

I am such a worrier. I worry about important things...money, health, death, etc. I worry about the not so important things too...the way I look, getting to places on time...you name it, I worry about it. I have been trying *really* hard not to worry so much. I firmly believe that there are certain things that are just out of my control...that there is a master plan and things happen for a reason. So, then it should be simple right. No need to worry then. God has it all under control. Ha! Easy to say, so hard to do. I'm working on it. Day by day I am getting better at enjoying life and living in the moment instead of worrying about what may or may not happen in the future. If you have any words of wisdom, now is the time to share them. :) I came across this quote by Winston Churchill. I think he hit the nail on the head. So, for all you worriers out there, CHILL! ;) When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that

Almost Summer

Yay! Memorial Day weekend is here. The *unofficial* start to summer. There are so many reasons why I love summer... -warm weather -swimming -no school -getting up whenever -flip flops -BBQ's -the beach -daylight!!!!!! -fresh fruit -flowers -baseball!!!! I could go on and on. Summer truly is my favorite season. But, the number 1 reason I LOVE summer is because of the clothes... -summer dresses -capris -long flowing skirts -pretty tanks And, this season's hottest trend....tunics!! Oh my, I just got my Real Simple magazine and there is a whole article on tunics!!! SO many CUTE and affordable ones too!!! Some places to check them out: -www.landsend.com -www.blueplatefashion.com -www.laredoute.com Hope you all have a Fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!!!!

Officially a Brownie

Image
Today, Natalie officially became a Brownie. No more Daisies. This is the big time now...fund raising, cookies, farmer's market, etc. :) There was a bridging ceremony where the girls actually walked over a bridge. An older troop helped out. The older girls took off the Daisy tunics and put on the Brownie vests. We Moms got to pin our daughters. It was so CUTE! And, after the ceremony, was a party with brownies, of course! Fun stuff! Congrats Natty!!!!

Gone Fishing!

Image
Yesterday, the cubbies went fishing. Dylan was sooo excited! He could hardly wait. And we had a break in the weather. The fishing Gods must have been smiling down on us because it had been raining for several days before and it continues today. We are fortunate enough to live in an area with lots of lakes. So we took the boys to one of them and got them started. They had a blast. It didn't matter that they didn't catch any fish either. Altho, Dylan did manage to get some bites. The fish ate his bait and got away. I think a certain soon-to-be 8 yr old will be getting a fishing rod for his birthday. :)

Invite

Image
In our family, we always have two birthday parties. One for the family, usually at home, and one for the friends, usually at a party place. :) I never send out invites for the family party. I usually just call everyone and tell them when it is. This year for Dylan's 8th birthday, I decided I wanted to send out something. So, I chalked the invite on my driveway, asked Dylan to sit near it and then took a photo. Voila, there is my invite. Cool idea, huh?

Monday, Monday

First, the fun stuff, it's upload day at DML.... And, now for the mundane.... -groceries -laundry -ironing I dread making trips to the grocery store. It is the one chore/errand I could certainly do without. I love to cook and I love to eat even more so I can't quite understand my aversion to the grocery store. I mean, seriously, I avoid it til I can't anymore. Well, that time has arrived. I must grin and bear it. Off to the market I go. ;) Seeyas!

Getting it done

I'm getting it done today... -clean house -oil change -teach class -organize *junk* draws -reduce piles -print photos Wow! I am really focused today. Focused on my tasks. Focused on the end result. I'm getting it done and it feels good! Now if only I could be this focused everyday. ;)

The Fray

It has been a *really* loooooong time since I've been excited about a band. Music has become so predictable and ordinary. Sure, I've bought new releases from old favorites but I've saved a ton of money on cd's lately. There was just nothing out there for me. Nothing. Until, The Fray. I've been hearing this song, Over My Head, for a few weeks now but never knew who sang the dang song. Don't ya just hate when the radio station doesn't tell you who the artist is after they play the song?! Well, I do. But, I digress. Today, I found out that it is the Fray! So, I did what every other good little internet junkie does, I googled them. They have a cute little website and you can listen to two tracks from their cd. Check them out here: http://www.thefray.net/ I am in LOVE!!!!!! And they are playing Webster Hall!!!! It's sold out but I ain't letting that stop me. I've gotten into many a sold out show in my lifetime. :) I needed to share them

Feel Good Friday

Normally, I list things that I feel good about in these posts. But, today I want to talk about something else...taking the high road or going the extra mile. There's a great quote that says: Go the extra mile, it's alot less crowded there. I love that quote and it really provokes me to think about how I react to certain things. I had a situtation where I got an unpleasant message from someone. And, instead of attacking them or getting defensive, I took the high road and responded with kindness. I didn't respond right away either. I knew I was angry and any response I would have given would have been read that way. So I slept on it and I am glad I did. I am so glad I reacted the way I did. I am learning. I am growing. I feel good about that.

The First

Well, it's the first of the month and that means upload day at Scrapjazz. It was such a struggle to get my assignments done. It had nothing to do with the product. It was a very fun line of paper, stickers, flowers and jewels by Moments Defined. I was really excited to play around with the stuff. And the theme was motherhood. A cinch, right? But, then the dreaded funk hit!!!! Oh my!!!! I was ruining piece after piece of good paper everytime I tried to scrapbook. Sometimes I would just move paper around on my desk. After 10 minutes or so of doing that, I would leave my room. There is nothing more depressing than having the time to scrapbook but your mojo has left the building. :( My friend Michelle gave me some tips to get out of my funk and it worked! She told me to do one or all of the following: -look thru magazines or idea books -lift a favorite artist -scrap a photo I've already scrapped but try to do it in a different way this time -use a product or try a tech
