Weekend Recap - Food & Rain Edition
This weekend was my first taste of freedom. My last day of teaching mini camp for my preschool ended at 12:30 on Friday afternoon. I am freeeeeeeeeeee until Labor Day! It hasn't quite hit me yet. I'm not in vacation mode just yet. So, this weekend felt like an ordinary weekend in the neighborhood. ;)
It was cold and rainy in New York on Saturday. I actually had to wear a jacket! :O
We got off to a late start. The weather really does make you lazy. Stew is an avid record collector and every now and then we travel down to Princeton, NJ to one of his favorite record stores. There is usually something in it for me. This time it was dinner in Newark's Ironbound section for some outrageous Spanish food. The boy tagged along while the girl opted to go to an early Fourth of July celebration with her friends.
On the way there, we stopped for a quick bite to eat at Epsteins Kosher Deli for knishes, hot dogs and cream sodas. YUM!
While the boys went record hunting, I sat and read my new book. I love Mary Kay Andrews. Her books are always so fun. My favorite of hers is The Fixer Upper but so far I am loving this one a lot.
The boys came back with their fair share of goodies and off we went to dinner at Forno's of Spain. We had olives, salad, paella and changurro and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Oh my Heavens!
We got home so late that we all just crashed.
Sunday my boy was supposed to have a baseball game in West Haven, CT but the weather was dismal so it was cancelled. Here is a shot from Friday's game. He went 2 for 3 but the team lost a nail biter 9-8.
We have this little tradition going in our family. We love to take hikes or walks on Sundays. Now that we have Tilly, she joins in the fun. :) This particular Sunday, we strolled the Dutchess County Rail Trail. I had my iphone on me so I know we walked over 10,000 steps. ahahaaaa!

It was a dreary weekend but we made the best of it. I cannot wait to finally tackle all of those projects that I don't have time for during the school year. Happy Summer Vacation!
